Dickinson will host a lecture by art expert Victoria Reed, curator for the Provenance at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in Althouse Hall, room 106, at 45 North College Street.
Nazi-looted art and masterpieces brought back as the spoils of war frequently make headlines. How does an art museum research its collection to find lost, stolen or smuggled masterpieces? Reed will discuss her experiences as an “art detective,” tracing provenance or ownership history of the Museum of Fine Art’s collection and looking for potential seizures, thefts and losses during the Nazi era and beyond.
It is free and open to the public. For more information, call 717-254-8159.
