Updates & Programming Transition to Grass Campus - September 2024

Effective Saturday, September 28th, the longtime Harrisburg Jewish Community Center building at 3301 N. Front St. will cease operations as remaining programming completes the transition to the Grass Campus. For decades, the JCC has been a cherished space, hosting countless memories and serving as a gathering place for our community and a hub for activity. We are grateful for its role in our community’s history.

The JCC building will also be closed on Saturdays effective August 3rd. Our hours of operation at the Grass Campus and Symons Family Fitness Center remain unchanged.

We will continue to offer much of our current programming and activities at the new Grass Campus (2986 N. 2nd St.) and elsewhere in our community - keep reading for more info on specific programs, services, and other updates:

  • Senior Adult Club - beginning the week of September 29th, all Senior Adult Club programming will be headquartered at its new home on the Grass Campus. This includes weekly lunch and speaker programs, arts and culture offerings, and more. Senior Adult Club members will have opportunities to tour and familiarize with the space ahead of the official transition. More details on tour dates coming soon.
  • Food Service - Our kosher kitchen at the Harrisburg JCC building (3301 N. Front St.) will continue service pending future sale of the building. Food service will be available through our in-house caterer and will continue to provide meals for Federation/JCC programs like Senior Adult Club & Brenner Family ELC.
  • Arts & Cultural Programming and more - we are in the planning process for a full slate of all-ages programming beginning this Fall at the Grass Campus. Keep an eye out for more information coming soon!
  • Basketball - We've secured partnerships with community facilities to conduct our organized basketball programs - including Parent/Tot & Iddy Biddy, J-Hoops, and competitive basketball. More details to come.
  • Phase 2 Construction at the Grass Campus - This phase, including basketball/pickleball court and more, is still in development pending funding.
  • Swimming  - We are continuing to explore partnerships with community facilities to offer swim programming. Swimming pool construction at the Grass Campus is dependent on public and private funding and would be developed in a future phase of construction.

We look forward to continuing to serve you and strengthen our community through high-quality wellness, cultural, and advocacy programming and services at the Grass Campus and in the community. Please save the date for our Community Open House at the Grass Campus on Sunday, September 29th from 1 - 4pm.
